Riverside College of Health Careers offers an advanced placement option for licensed practical nurses who want to become registered nurses. This option allows the LPN to advance place into the Professional Nursing Program by entering as a level two student.

Day

  • Approximately 18 months
  • Hours vary Monday through Friday, 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

Evening/ Weekend

  • Approximately 18 months
  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 5-10 p.m.
  • Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday, hours vary 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Occasional daytime hours may be required during the week.
  • College prerequisites required


Requirements

Students must be licensed to practice in a licensure compact state, apply, and be accepted before beginning the LPN to RN Advanced Placement Option. Applicants to the LPN to RN Advanced Placement Option must have worked as an LPN for at least one year since being licensed, with no more than five years since their last work experience.

All Professional Nursing Program prerequisites and admission requirements apply. In addition, applicants are required to achieve a minimum score of 80 percent on a faculty-prepared test based on the content of the first level courses of the Professional Nursing Program. 

All admitted students will be required to attend a mandatory orientation session. Validation of clinical competency in areas previously mastered may be required at the discretion of the Program Director.
