After earning his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Wilson completed residency training at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital and a maxillofacial surgery fellowship at the Albert Ludwigs University in Germany. Board certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, he is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Although a patient does not usually choose the need for medical care, Dr. Wilson feels it is his responsibility to prove to his patients that by choosing him as their physician, they will receive the best medical care that he can give. He is adamant about giving each patient adequate time and attention.
In practice for more than 30 years in Hampton Roads, Dr. Wilson specializes in nasal surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and facial reconstructive surgery after trauma or skin cancer. Within the otolaryngology field, he anticipates improved methods to treat chronic sinusitis, increased use of robotic surgery, and improved technology for remote/virtual visits.
At age 17, Dr. Wilson left his home in upstate New York to enlist in the U.S. Navy. A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, he loves hiking, whitewater kayaking, boating, fishing, hunting, backpacking, and introducing youth to these character-building activities. In fact, the variety of outdoor opportunities within a day's drive is his favorite feature of our local area, in addition to its history. Dr. Wilson and his wife have three children and two grandchildren.
