Amy M. Skorupa, MD
Cancer Care, Medical Oncology, Hematology/Oncology

After earning her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Skorupa completed an internal medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she remained to complete fellowship training in hematology and oncology. She is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and the subspecialties of hematology and medical oncology.
A skilled, compassionate oncologist and hematologist, Dr. Skorupa chose her medical specialties because of the close relationships she is able to develop with patients due to the frequency of care needed. With honesty as one of her most prominent core values, she is committed to giving her patients the care and concern they deserve. Her medical practice is also based on the philosophy that a team approach is the best way to care for a patient.
With a special interest in breast cancer, Dr. Skorupa anticipates that the next major development in oncology will be the increased use of immunotherapy, which boosts the body's natural defenses to fight disease.
A local native of Newport News, Dr. Skorupa is still fond of living in the Hampton Roads area, particularly enjoying the water with friends and family. Her favorite hobbies include boating, paddleboarding and playing the guitar. Dr. Skorupa and her husband Alex have two children.
