Melissa earned a Bachelor of Science in clinical radiation sciences, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University, completing her studies in 2012. She is board-certified as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
With a desire to see individuals through their cancer journey, Melissa enjoys the long-term relationships made with patients in this specialty. She does not hesitate to spend time with her patients in order to get to the root of the issue. Melissa also believes that nursing and medicine are team sports in which quality patient care relies on effective communication among providers, and she is dedicated to that goal.
A Mathews, Virginia native, Melissa now resides in Newport News with her husband. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading and hiking.
