Courtney A. Hastings, FNP
Cancer Care, Medical Oncology
Courtney received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia before earning her Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University New Orleans. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
With 15 years of nursing experience, Courtney has devoted the majority of her career to inpatient cancer care. The oncology field has a particular significance to her as the disease has affected several of her own family members and friends. Courtney anticipates that oncology care will gradually transition away from chemotherapies and towards treatment with immunotherapies.
A supporter of Jean Watson's Philosophy and Theory of Transpersonal Caring, Courtney believes that as nurses care for their patients, that their caring progresses into better plans to promote health and wellness. Desiring the very best for her patients, one of her goals is to ensure they know that the Peninsula Cancer Institute care team is continually working together to help patients through their journey, day by day.
A true local, Courtney grew up in Newport News and still loves the area today. She, her husband and their two daughters especially enjoy the abundance of family activities available in the area such as the Virginia Living Museum, the Peninsula Fine Arts Center, the Mariners' Museum and the Noland Trail. Along with spending time with family, Courtney's favorite hobbies include knitting and walking outdoors in beautiful Coastal Virginia.
