Our Team: Obstetrics and Gynecology

Karen E. Fish, M.D.
Karen Fish2Dr. Fish earned her medical degree from Harvard University. She completed an OB-GYN residency at Brown University, followed by a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Drawn to the OB-GYN specialty for the depth of experience and variety it contains, Dr. Fish’s ultimate passion is to teach and perform minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. With extensive training and 13 years of experience, she serves as Riverside Regional Medical Center’s director of GYN surgery, specializing in laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and a variety of outpatient and office procedures.

Recognizing that women often neglect their health in favor of other responsibilities, it is imperative to Dr. Fish that all women benefit from a faster, less painful recovery and are empowered to return to their lives. Because she believes medical care should take into account each woman’s personal life situation, she is careful to listen to her patients as individuals.

Jill C. Hasling, M.D.
Jill Hasling, M.D.Dr. Hasling earned her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences before completing her residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she is also a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

With a dedicated emphasis on the patient and a philosophy that embraces continuity of family centered care, Dr. Hasling sincerely loves taking care of the women in her medical practice. She especially enjoys the hands-on aspects of providing OB-GYN care, including surgery and office procedures. She continually looks forward to seeing her patients and is committed to ensuring that they have a full understanding of their health care options.

Dr. Hasling's areas of specialty range from contraceptive care including Nexplanon, Mirena, Paragard and Essure, to colposcopy, in-office diagnostic hysteroscopy, in-office LEEP and vaginal hysterectomy, as well as routine and high-risk obstetrics. She also serves as associate director of Riverside’s OB/GYN Residency Program.

Michael D. McMullin, M.D.
Michael McMullin, M.D.Dr. McMullin received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine, graduating as an elected member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Following residency, he entered private practice where he delivered babies for two generations of patients and performed more than 3000 surgical procedures over the next 24 years. In 2009, he returned to Riverside Regional Medical Center as Associate Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program.

Dr. McMullin is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has been board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1987.

Barbara E. Simpson, M.D.
Barbara Simpson, M.D.Dr. Simpson earned her medical degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency with VCU Health System. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

With a women's health practice that includes a combination of low- and high-risk obstetrics as well as gynecological care for teens through postmenopausal women, Dr. Simpson is experienced in a wide range of treatments including management of abnormal Pap smears, endometrial ablation and laparoscopic hysterectomies.

With a previous career as a senior firefighter and paramedic for York County, Dr. Simpson has always had a passion for utilizing her skills to contribute to the community's safety and well-being. Also a Tribe alumna, Dr. Simpson completed her undergraduate studies locally at the College of William & Mary.

Jacquelyn G. Stephenson, CNM
Jacquelyn Stephenson, C.N.M.After graduating from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Science in nursing, Ms. Stephenson earned her Master of Science in nursing with a concentration in midwifery from New York University. She is board-certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Midwifery is a calling for Ms. Stephenson, one that began at age four when she was amazed by feeling her brother kick from inside her mother's womb. She considers childbearing a profound experience that carries significant meaning to her patients, their families and the community. Believing that the woman is the primary decisionmaker in her own care, Ms. Stephenson provides information that empowers each patient to make choices that bring her health, confidence and strength.

As a nurse practitioner-midwife, Ms. Stephenson provides holistic, evidence-based care based on an understanding of the social, emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychological and physical experiences of women. She offers a complete range of health services, including gynecological care, hormonal and nonhormonal family planning methods and obstetrical care from prenatal to postpartum stages.

Sandra K. Voll, CNM, NP
Sandra Voll, NPA Certified Nurse Midwife, Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Voll received her nursing degree from Ohio State University. After earning her Nurse Practitioner certifications from VCU, she graduated from Georgetown University's Nurse Midwifery School. Ms. Voll is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.

Dedicated to providing compassionate care to women for over 30 years, Ms. Voll strives to help patients feel at ease, recognizing that women often prioritize others' health care needs over their own. In addition to advocating for healthy lifestyles and the importance of annual well woman exams, her specialties include birth control counseling, preconception planning, pregnancy and postpartum care, management of irregular and heavy periods and sexually transmitted disease prevention, screening, testing and treatment.
