Medical Director, Adult Intensive Treatment Program
Dr. Federico Vizcaino grew up in Guatemala and attended medical school at the College of Medicine in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He immigrated to the United States permanently in 1979 and did his residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Medicine, and was a Fellow, Therapy Committee Group of the Advancement of Psychiatry (GAP), one of 21 psychiatric residents chosen nationwide every two years for GAP. He has been board certified in psychiatry since 1980 and has conducted research for the Centers for Behavioral Health from 2003-2008.
Dr. Vizcaino is a member of various professional organizations including the American Psychiatric Association and the Virginia Neuropsychiatric Society. He has been a partner in Churchland Psychiatric Associates since 1984. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and specializes in medication evaluation and management of adults with mood, anxiety and thought disorders. He currently serves as medical director of the Adult Intensive Therapy Program (ITP) at Riverside Behavioral Health Center.
