Rachel Sengenberger

Rachel Sengenberger, PT, Therapy Coordinator

Rachel received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1999 and has been working for Riverside since 2016. Rachel currently is Therapy Coordinator of Riverside Physical Therapy- Eastern Shore location. Upon graduating, Rachel initially worked in Pediatrics, treating children with various diagnoses in the area schools and in their homes. In 2001 Rachel and her husband decided to move to Virginia, at which time she switched to Home Health Physical Therapy until 2007 when she transitioned to Outpatient Physical Therapy. Over several years Rachel underwent extensive training to become a Certified Manual Therapist, which allows her to provide in-depth hands on treatment to get her patients better faster. Rachel has been practicing Pilates personally since 2001, and as a Certified Pilates Rehabilitation Specialist incorporates Pilates into her therapy treatments to provide a unique whole-body approach integrating mind-body connection, posture and body awareness. In 2019 Rachel furthered her education and patient experience by becoming certified in Dry Needling which involves the use of acupuncture type needles to release muscle tension, promote healing and provide pain relief. In addition to this, Rachel also received her certification in lymphedema therapy to treat swelling caused by cancer treatment, surgery, chronic venous insufficiency and more. Outside of work, Rachel enjoys being active and outside, volunteering with the area naturalist groups, meditating, doing Pilates and Tai Chi, providing private Pilates sessions, cooking and hanging out with her husband and friends.

Diane Deal

Diane Deal, PT, DPT

Diane Deal, PT, DPT is from the southwestern part of South Dakota.  She is a licensed Physical Therapist in North Carolina and Virginia.  Diane received her bachelor's in physical education, minor in health, teaching certificate from South Dakota State University in 1980.  She received her bachelor’s in Physical Therapy from the University of Oklahoma in 1983.  Her professional career began in Wichita Falls, Texas as the senior therapist at Wichita General Hospital in the acute care physical therapy department.  In 1989, Diane relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida to work as a senior therapist in an outpatient orthopedic clinic.  She continued her professional career in St. Petersburg area working with adult and geriatric patients in outpatient orthopedic clinics and home health.  Diane was given an opportunity in 1996 to transfer/relocate to the Hickory, North Carolina region to treat home health patients in a 7 county area.  Diane continued to work in the western region and Lumberton region of North Carolina in outpatient orthopedics, home health and industrial rehabilitation where she took a special interest in treating the neck and spine. In 2010, Dianne obtained her traditional DPT from Shenandoah University while working full time.  With her continued interest in the treatment of the neck and spine, Diane became credentialed in the McKenzie method of evaluating and treating the spine and extremities in 2012.

Angela Malabot

Angela Mabalot, PT

Angela received her Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech in 2010 and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Duke University in 2013. She grew up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and after practicing physical therapy in the Tidewater region for a few years, she happily returned to the Eastern Shore and has been with Riverside Shore Outpatient Physical therapy since 2021. In 2018, Angela furthered her education and became a Certified Orthopedic Specialist after completing an Orthopedic Residency with Evidence in Motion. This program focused greatly on evidence-based practice including extensive training in manual therapy. In 2021, Angela became certified to be a LSVT BIG clinician allowing her to offer specialized treatments for patients with Parkinson's Disease and various neurological conditions. Outside of the clinic, Angela enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children, boating, and putting her toes in the sand at the beach whenever she can.

Iwona Matthews

Iwona Matthews, PT

Iwona Matthews PT, CIDN graduated with a degree in physical therapy from Duke University and has 20+ years of experience working in the physical therapy field. She is an orthopedic and pelvic health physical therapist with a passion for helping women recover from pregnancy/postpartum complications and pelvic floor dysfunction. She is currently working on becoming certified as a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist to better assist her patients with reaching their personal fitness goals and overcoming pelvic floor issues in a safe and effective way.  She is excited to work with every patient experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction and design a personalized exercise program to increase their quality of life. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, and increasing her knowledge through reading research papers and attending continuing education classes. Iwona would like to design and conduct a Pelvic Floor Clinic to provide education regarding pelvic floor dysfunction and therapy. 

Anthony Rinaldo

Anthony (Toby) Rinaldo, PT

Toby was born and raised in Peapack, New Jersey and earned a bachelor’s in science (1993) at Kean College of New Jersey.  After graduation, he worked a hospital setting for 1.5 years prior to moving to Charlotte in 1995.  Since graduating in 1993 Toby has worked in a variety of setting including pediatrics in the school and home settings, orthopedics/sports medicine, in and out-patient rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation.  Toby has been trained in the mechanical diagnosis and treatment approach for back and neck dysfunction as well as the treatment of vestibular problems. Most recently, he has worked overseas treating children with autism and a variety of neurological and developmental disorders in the clinical and home settings.  In addition, he is a certified clinical instructor with over 28 years of clinical experience.  In his spare time, Toby enjoys running, physical exercise and spending time with my wife and 4 children.

Katie Brownlee, DPT

Katie Brownlee, DPT

Katie is a physical therapist who earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from James Madison University in 2016 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019. Upon graduating from physical therapy school, Katie began her career in a hospital system in Richmond, VA where she practiced in acute care, post-operative rehabilitation, wound care, and neurological rehabilitation. She achieved her Certified Wound Specialist (CWS®) board certification in 2022, demonstrating a distinct and specialized expertise in the field of wound care. She particularly enjoys treating patients after neurological injury such as a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or spinal cord injury and those with complex wounds. As an Eastern Shore native, Katie always imagined she would return to her hometown to serve her community. In 2022, Katie returned to the Eastern Shore and began her career with Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital as the inpatient physical therapist. Outside of work, Katie enjoys walks on the farm, cooking, and spending time with her husband and son.

Sarah Chew

Sarah Chew, M.S., CCC-SLP

Sarah is a speech-language pathologist who earned her Bachelor of Science in Education in Speech Communication Disorders from the University of Virginia in 2011 and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Old Dominion University in 2013. She is from the Eastern Shore of Virginia and always envisioned returning to the area to serve its community, which she has done since joining the Riverside team in 2013. While Sarah has worked in the home health and skilled nursing facility sectors of healthcare, she most enjoys her current role as an inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation provider at RSMH. She enjoys evaluating the patient in their most vulnerable state in the acute hospital setting and helping them come full-circle, meeting both therapeutic and personal goals, in the outpatient setting. Sarah specializes in the neurological population to address speech, language, cognitive and swallowing deficits. Providing both fluoroscopic (MBSS) and endoscopic evaluations of swallowing (FEES) is one way that Sarah offers patients high quality diagnostic services without leaving the Eastern Shore. In her free time, Sarah enjoys reading anything in print, gardening and staying active outdoors with her husband and two sons.

Sarah Blake, PTA

Sarah received her Bachelors of Science degree in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech. During her four years at VT, she worked as an athletic trainer aide with the football team where she gained ample experience in Sports Medicine and athlete rehabilitation. She then attended ECPI University to receive her Associates in Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assisting. She began working at Riverside Shore Memorial in 2021 upon graduation. Sarah is certified in Kinesiology Taping and incorporates many facets of her experiences in order to help patients heal.

Rebecca Foley, PTA

Rebecca Foley joined Riverside Physical Therapy in November 2021. She currently works at our outpatient facility, as well as inpatient. Rebecca graduated from Lynchburg College with her Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotions in 2012, received her Associate's of Applied Science Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from Jefferson College of Health Sciences in 2015. She has been a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant since 2015. Rebecca has been practicing outpatient physical therapy for over 6 years. She has experience helping children and adults recover from various orthopedic injuries and helps patients meet their personal goals, and return to their normal lifestyle and level of function. With a background and experience in aquatic therapy, treating various orthopedic injuries, CVA's, vertigo, pelvic floor, and McKenzie-based patients. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, chocolate lab, and her daughter.

Amanda Mapp, LPTA

Amanda Mapp is a graduate of Tidewater Community College, where she received her Associate’s Degree. She is a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in Virginia.  
Her love for physical therapy began in 2010 when she was employed as a Physical Therapist Technician for a privately owned company. Her time as a PT Tech gave her the opportunity to work and learn under experienced therapists with extensive backgrounds in postural restoration and in Parkinson Wellness Recovery (PWR). In 2016 she pursued her passion and returned back to school to obtain her licensure for a Physical Therapist Assistant. There she studied under McKenzie certified therapists who focused on assessing and treating all areas of the musculoskeletal system. Amanda has found that she loves to treat all ages and diagnoses. In her free time, she loves spending time outdoors with her son, enjoying the wonderful Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Melissa Payne, PTA

Melissa has been practicing for over twenty years in a variety of settings including skilled nursing, home health, pediatric therapy in the school system, and outpatient. She is a Virginia Tech Alumnae with a Bachelor of Science of Health Education and went on to attend the Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, VA where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1997. Upon graduation, she began working with a travel therapy company and eventually landed here on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.  Melissa enjoys working with all types of diagnoses but her specialty is working with Parkinson’s patients.  She uses the knowledge she gained first hand from Neuroscientist and Physical Therapist Becky Farley who helped create the LSVT BIG and PWR! Program, to treat her PD patients. She became a PWR! Moves certified fitness instructor and clinician years ago and became a certified LSVT BIG certified clinician in 2021. Melissa’s passion for this patient population stems from her Dad’s Parkinson’s diagnosis while she was in PTA school. He eventually succumbed to the disease but to honor his memory, Melissa wants to do her best to improve the life of people with Parkinson’s Disease. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, teaching an exercise class at the YMCA for people with PD, playing tennis, and walking the dogs.

Lauren Pruitt, PTA

Lauren graduated from Virginia Tech in 2008 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Nutrition, Food and Exercise. After working as a physical therapy aide for a year in an outpatient clinic, Lauren decided to pursue her career in Physical Therapy. She graduated from Tidewater Community College in 2011 from the Physical Therapist Assistant program. Her professional career includes experience in acute care, skilled care, long term care and outpatient physical therapy settings. She is now specializing in pelvic floor which has been fun educating patients about pelvic health. She joined the Riverside Rehabilitation team in 2011 and enjoys getting her patients back to living their best life.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
