The Diabetes Support Group

The Diabetes Support Group is an "Ask-the-Educator" group for persons with diabetes, those caring for those with diabetes and friends and family of those dealing with the disease. This group provides support, planning and education tools, blood sugar monitoring and goal setting for everyday life with diabetes. Please join us for open discussion and support. We are open to all so feel free to come and bring a friend. The Diabetes Support Group meets the fourth Thursday of each month in two locations:

look-good-feel-better

Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite and strength. But it does not have to take away her self-confidence. Look Good Feel Better® is a FREE program that teaches beauty techniques to women in active treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Volunteer beauty professionals lead small groups, usually about 6-10 women, through practical, hands-on experience. Women learn about makeup, skin care, nail care, and ways to deal with hair loss such as with wigs, turbans and scarves. Each woman gets a free makeup kit to use during and after the workshop.

Patients must be undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment, or have recently finished their treatment to participate. Classes fill up quickly! Please register early! For more information on sessions held on the Riverside Walter Reed Hospital campus, call 800-520-7006.
