The Health Services Research Department has been in existence since the inception of the organization. The Department focuses on serving older adults, their family caregivers, and professional caregivers through applied research and collaboration with service providers, health systems and academic institutions. The Health Services Research Department examines programs and protocols that can be used to enhance service delivery, education and improved health outcomes for older adults and caregivers.

The Health Services Research and Development Department drives continual improvement by identification and thorough examination of programs and protocols that can translate into better service delivery and improved health outcomes for geriatric and other "at risk" patients served by Riverside Health System. Additionally, this team of researchers works directly with grant-making institutions, other organizations seeking consulting services, and program developers that work to address community health needs.

The Health Services Research Department at the Riverside Center for Excellence in Aging and Lifelong Health is involved in a number of projects, both in the Greater Williamsburg area, and in other communities around the Commonwealth of Virginia and around the country. Current research projects address issues of dementia, behavioral health, community services delivery, and caregiver support and education.

Please contact Christy Jensen at for more information about these projects or about the center's ability to lead or support other projects.
