About William Wittmer MacLaughlin, MD

Dr. MacLaughlin received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton and his medical degree from the New York Medical College. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. In June 1987, Dr. MacLaughlin completed his fellowship in hematology/oncology from Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. He is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.Dr. MacLaughlin is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

With over 35 years of experience as an oncologist and hematologist, Dr. MacLaughlin has also devoted much of his medical career to clinical research, an early interest sparked during his undergraduate work in biology and physiological psychology. The bulk of Dr. MacLaughlin’s research as a clinical investigator has involved cancer studies, primarily focused on lung and breast disease.

Dr. MacLaughlin was born in Westchester County, New York. He has been a resident of Hampton Roads since 2000, joining Riverside in 2010.
