About Vera Dovirak, PA-C

Vera earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Eastern Virginia Medical School. She also holds a Master of Science in public health and health services administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Vera is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Vera finds that caring for a person from a gastroenterology perspective is to provide all-encompassing care, as its ailments are manifested in a myriad of ways and body systems. Within this gratifying specialty, she has a particular interest in nutrition education and promotion, preventive care (such as colonoscopies), weight management (especially for patients with comorbidities such as high blood pressure or diabetes) and autoimmune disorders affecting the GI tract.

Viewing each patient as someone’s family, friend or colleague rather than a room number, Vera recognizes that a medical visit may be a life-altering event. She respects the privilege of being part of that, and promises to be an attentive champion for her patients in navigating the world of health care.

Born in Ukraine, Vera moved to New York City at age 13 and remained a New Yorker until her move to Newport News in 2015. Here, she enjoys the abundant outdoor activities and diverse population. Vera and her husband have a cat named Mimi who runs the household along with Sammy, their big red Irish Setter. Vera enjoys running the Noland trail with Sammy, spending time with her husband, crossfitting and hiking.
