About Travis Thompson Arnold, DO

Dr. Arnold is an award-winning family physician dedicated to helping patients improve their quality of life through preventive medicine. After completing his undergraduate degree at Auburn University in Alabama, he earned a doctorate from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg.

He completed his family medicine residency through Riverside, winning two awards for outstanding care: the Brentwood “Patient First” Award and the patient-nominated Riverside “Champion of Caring” Award.

Dr. Arnold is an avid volunteer and community health advocate. During college and medical school, he served for six years in the Medical Reserve Corps — a volunteer network that aims to improve the health and safety of local communities. During that time, he won the Medical Reserve Corps “Best of the West” Award for excellence in public health support. He has also traveled to El Salvador twice on medical mission trips and participated in the “D.O. Day on Capitol Hill” to help educate lawmakers on pertinent medical issues.

He strongly believes in the importance of preventive medicine, which allows people to worry less about their health and focus on the most important aspects of their life. Emphasizing the importance of two-way dialogue between the patient and physician, he also believes that the best medication is the one that someone is willing to take. His specialty areas include medical weight loss, minor surgical procedures (such as cyst removal, abscess drainage and skin biopsies), preventive medicine and mental health.

A Virginian at heart, Dr. Arnold attended high school in Northern Virginia and enjoys life on the Peninsula — especially the proximity to water, beaches, restaurants and activities. Married with two sons, he also likes gardening, cooking and spending time with his family.
