About Stephanie Anne Giammittorio, DO

Dr. Giammittorio is a fellowship trained sports medicine physician specializing in sports and musculoskeletal injury care and sports concussions, as well as sideline sports coverage and ultrasound-guided injections for joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles. Being a lifelong athlete inspired Dr. Giammittorio to help people stay active and healthy through the medical specialty of sports medicine. She believes medical care is all about teamwork between the physician, staff and patient.

Dr. Giammittorio earned her medical degree from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010. She completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2014, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in 2015. Dr. Giammittorio is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with subspecialty certification in sports medicine.

An Alexandria native and James Madison University alumna, Dr. Giammittorio is happy to be back in her home state caring for patients. She is avid traveler who loves experiencing different cultures and parts of the world. Dr. Giammittorio is also in the process of completing the six world marathon majors.
