About Soquel C Rey, MD

Soquel C. Rey, M.D., is a family medicine physician specializing in common skin conditions, women’s health, nutrition and lifestyle medicine. She delivers patient-centered care for adults, emphasizing long-term health and individualized goals 

Dr. Rey earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and a Doctor of Medicine from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. She completed her family medicine residency at Riverside Family Medicine Residency in Newport News. She is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. 

Dr. Rey’s care philosophy centers on prevention. She believes the most effective care occurs when patients are well-informed, supported and actively involved in decisions about their health.  

When she’s not at work, Dr. Rey is an avid gardener and enjoys staying active by hiking, kayaking, fishing, and practicing yoga.

This was my very 1st visit and she took her time to learn my history, my needs, and concerns. She was very thorough and made sure to not miss a single thing as far as my care needs. It was a very comforting and a very productive appointment. I left feeling really cared for by her and the nurse.

I almost want to be selfish and say that I do not want to recommend Dr. Rey to anyone else because I want to keep her for myself. She is absolutely wonderful. She was so informative and helped me to understand everything that was going on with me. I'm brand new to medicaid. I was a navy wife for 30 years and I always had military insurance. Meeting a doctor that actually wanted to hear about what was actually going on with me and actually helped me with the problem, instead of just giving me pills to try to make it go away, was a real eye opener. Doctor Rey is amazing. I'm really looking forward to having her as my permanent physician.

This office is disorganized at best, and lacking bedside manner. When I brought up an injury concern at the end of my appointment I was told that my 30 minutes was up and that I would have to return next week. When I said I could not because I wouldn't have childcare magically she could check my injury. [...]
