About Shannon Leigh Dishman, FNP

Shannon is board-certified family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board. Shannon specializes in treating disease of the GI tract to include constipation, diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, eosinophilic esophagitis dysphagia and diseases of the liver to include hepatitis C and fatty liver disease.

After graduating from the Riverside School of Professional Nursing in 2000, Shannon earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004. In 2018, she earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University.

With 20 years of nursing experience, mostly in the hospital setting, Shannon became a nurse practitioner to keep people as well as possible. The specialty of gastroenterology gives her that opportunity. Shannon sees medicine as a partnership in wellness and has a true passion for patient care.

A Coastal Virginia native, Shannon enjoys living on Sarah Creek in Gloucester. From fishing and eating seafood to just sitting on her dock, she loves everything about the water. Outside of work, Shannon can also be found helping her husband manage his contracting business, watching her daughter play sports, running or spending time with friends.
