About Samantha Rene Hughes, FNP

Samantha earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing from Thomas Nelson Community College in 2009. She later earned both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, completing her studies in 2019. Samantha is board-certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Samantha spent a decade gaining valuable experience as a registered nurse with Riverside Health System before becoming a family nurse practitioner. Her background includes a focus in women’s health, which continues to be an area of special interest for her. Samantha loves being able to treat every member of the family.

Embracing a medical philosophy that goes hand-in-hand with Riverside’s mission, Samantha aims to care for others as she would care for those she loves. She believes in treating not only illnesses, but also the patient as a whole. Samantha looks forward to creating long-lasting relationships with her patients and is honored to help them improve their health.

Raised in Hampton, Samantha now resides in Gloucester with her husband and three children. She loves our area because it offers the best of both worlds: the beach and the mountains. In fact, going to the beach with her family is one of Samantha’s favorite things to do, as well as taking weekend trips and training her two standard poodles.
