About Philibert Blanza Cruz, FNP

Phil Cruz, FNP, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in neurology and sleep medicine. He has primary interests in sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia and related sleep illnesses. For neurological conditions, he provides migraine treatments, including Botox and trigger point injections, as well as occipital blocks. Phil brings a unique professional experience to Riverside with over 30 years of clinical practice, including as a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in Manila, Philippines, before coming to the U.S. and transitioning to nursing. Phil draws on his extensive and diverse background to assess and care for patients, treating each one with dignity, respect and compassion.

Phil earned his DDS degree at Manila Central University, his nursing degree at Hampton University and a Master of Science in nursing from South University in Savannah, Georgia. He is board certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

As a lifelong advocate for community health, Phil was part of the Operation Smile surgical team in his early dental career. As a nurse practitioner, he continues his work meeting the needs of all community members. He takes pride in his neurology and sleep medicine work and in improving the health and well-being of the Hampton Roads community.

Outside of work, Phil takes advantage of the area’s rich history and the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. He and his spouse also enjoy traveling, cooking, photography and exploring the region’s beautiful shores and mountains.
