After earning her medical degree from the Ross University School of Medicine, Dr. Velazquez completed a psychiatry and internal medicine internship, followed by a neurology residency, at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She completed fellowship training in neuromuscular disorders at the University of Southern California. Dr. Velazquez is board certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.

With more than 20 years of experience in private practice, Dr. Velazquez is a highly trained neurologist with expertise in degenerative and demyelinating disorders of the brain and peripheral nervous system, as well as seizures, stroke, headache, traumatic brain injury, muscle disorders and fibromyalgia. A firm believer in the importance of a mutual partnership between physician and patient, she always presents her patients with options accompanied by honest, caring guidance for making the best choice.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. Velazquez loves dogs and enjoys nature walks with her pet, as well as sewing and planting. She is a mother to two grown children.
