About Krystyna Caratachea, DNP

Dr. Caratachea graduated from Louisiana State University as a Registered Nurse in 1981. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice—all from Old Dominion University. Dr. Caratachea is board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.

With 37 total years of nursing experience, including 17 as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Caratachea offers a wealth of expertise to her patients. She has completed the highest possible level of training by attaining a doctorate degree in nursing practice, yet she continues annual professional development to ensure clinical competency. She also provides preceptorship to Nurse Practitioner students.

Dr. Caratachea loves the diversity of family practice and has a special interest in women’s health. Sharing Riverside’s philosophy of caring for others as we would care for those we love, she believes in listening to her patients and establishing lasting relationships with them. Dr. Caratachea loves caring for others and feels that that going to work every day is the greatest gift.

The combination of growing up in a military family and marrying a military serviceman took Dr. Caratachea around the world before she moved to Hampton Roads in 1990. She and her husband have a son, a daughter and two granddaughters. Dr. Caratachea enjoys gardening and going to the beach.
