About Joel M Jones, DO

Dr. Jones earned his medical degree from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991 and completed a family medicine residency at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in 1994. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Jones enjoys the opportunity to practice medicine in its entire spectrum as a family medicine physician. He has expertise in urgent, emergency and procedural medicine, which includes joint injections and dermatologic procedures. When it comes to patient care, Dr. Jones strives to be kind, be thorough and make people laugh.

Born in California, Dr. Jones spent most of his life in New Mexico before relocating to Virginia, where he loves the weather. Outside of work, he enjoys ice carving, travel and family time. Dr. Jones and his wife, married for over 40 years, have three children and two grandchildren who all live in Newport News.

Prior to my visit, I make a list of medical concerns that I have. I desire a doctor who takes the time to listen to concerns, and provides medical opinion. Dr. Jones courteously listened and addressed each concern. I consider his knowledge, personal interaction, and genuine concern critical in the patient physician relationship.
