Dr. Valls earned his medical degree from the Francisco Marroquin University School of Medicine in Guatemala. In 2004, he completed internal medicine residency training at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Valls is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

An experienced internist who has practiced with Riverside for the past decade, Dr. Valls is committed to doing his best to restore his patients’ health and prevent future illness. He intentionally provides patients with as much information as he can, enabling them to become participants in their medical care. Dr. Valls’ areas of focus include diabetes, chronic lung disease, arterial hypertension, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, gastrointestinal disorders and preventive care.

Dr. Valls was born in Guatemala, though his family is originally from Spain. Now a U.S. citizen, he finds Hampton Roads to be a great place for he and his wife to raise their two children. Outside of work, Dr. Valls loves to spend time with his family.
