About Elizabeth Fiscus Waring, MD

After earning her medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans in 2014, Dr. Waring completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency with Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. She remained with VCU to complete fellowship training in hospice and palliative medicine with a concentration in perinatal palliative care. Dr. Waring is in the process of attaining board certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Waring recognizes that the relationship a woman has with her obstetrician and gynecologist is unique, personal and long-term in a way that is unlike any other field of medicine. She enjoys providing meaningful, personalized care to women through all stages of life. Getting to know her patients as individuals is of paramount importance to Dr. Waring, whose goal is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based medical care that addresses patient needs in a shared decision-making model.

Dr. Waring’s areas of focus include low-intervention childbirth, long-acting reversible contraception, menstrual management, sexual dysfunction, postpartum depression, colposcopy, the loop electrosurgical excision procedure, cervical dysplasia management and perinatal loss support. Her fellowship training in hospice and palliative medicine allows her to better address the needs of women and their partners who experience difficulties during high-risk pregnancies, and to support women with gynecologic cancer.

While growing up in Ohio, Dr. Waring spent summers in rural Indiana with her grandparents. Today she enjoys the Eastern Shore’s close-knit community, beautiful natural spaces, access to the water and fresh seafood. Before medical school, Dr. Waring worked as a chef and she still enjoys cooking meals to share with friends and family. Her other interests include hiking, swimming, kayaking, crafting and art.
