About Dwight Curtis Herbert, MD

Dr. Herbert earned his medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed residency training in family medicine at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News. Dr. Herbert is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

An interest in caring for the entire patient rather than one part of the body led Dr. Herbert to begin practicing family medicine over 20 years ago. Seeking to understand each unique patient and personalize office visits, he intentionally takes an ongoing interest in his patients’ lives. He strives to be a patient advocate while providing complete transparency regarding medical care. Dr. Herbert also serves as chief of Riverside Medical Group’s primary care service line.

Originally from the islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Herbert enjoys the coastal aspect of living in Hampton Roads, in addition to the area’s infrequent extremes in weather, proximity to major cities and family-friendly nature. He and his wife have two children. Outside of work, Dr. Herbert enjoys photography, small-group Bible studies and music.
