About Brenda J. Rivera, WHNP

Brenda earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Norfolk State University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University. She is board-certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner by the National Certification Corporation.

With more than two decades of nursing experience, Brenda has helped women through all stages of life, from adolescence to menopause and beyond. Her ability to identify with patients, and listen carefully to their thoughts and concerns, makes her a compassionate provider of quality care.

Trained in the specialized screening of cervical and endometrial cancers, Brenda provides comprehensive exams for patients in cancer remission. She performs procedures including colposcopy, excisional biopsy and endometrial biopsy, and assists with postoperative incision management. Treating all patients as if they were family, Brenda utilizes a holistic approach to address body, mind and soul.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Brenda grew up in Manhattan and moved to Hampton Roads 25 years ago. She loves living in Virginia Beach, where she is close to her grown daughter, son and four grandchildren. In addition to spending time with them, Brenda enjoys reading, crocheting, Paint Nite events and her two Yorkies. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
