About Benjamin B Chun, MD

Benjamin B. Chun, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist with experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye conditions. He specializes in cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, eyelid conditions and pterygium (surfer’s eye). In the clinic, he takes time to clearly communicate each patient’s treatment options and create a plan that supports their long-term vision.  

After completing a bachelor’s degree at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, Dr. Chun earned his medical degree through the Brown-Dartmouth Program in Medicine in Hanover, New Hampshire. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. During his military service, Dr. Chun served as a medical officer and flight surgeon, caring for service members in Virginia, Washington and South Korea before continuing his career as an ophthalmologist.

Restoring vision through laser cataract surgery is one of the most rewarding parts of Dr. Chun’s work. He is equally passionate about glaucoma care, knowing that early detection and treatment are essential for preserving eyesight. With decades of experience and advanced surgical skills, he aims to help patients stay independent and involved in the activities they love.

Born in South Korea and raised in Rochester, New York, Dr. Chun enjoys living in Coastal Virginia for its warm weather and beautiful beaches. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, playing golf and spending time with his family.
