About Amy Elizabeth Balka, MD

In 2003, Dr. Balka earned her medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed a family medicine residency at Naval Hospital Jacksonville in 2006. Dr. Balka is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Balka has practiced family medicine with Riverside since 2009, after serving as a family physician for the U.S. Navy. She loves caring for and getting to know a wide variety of patients and their families. With a focus on women’s health, Dr. Balka enjoys the entire spectrum of family medicine.

Approaching her practice with a “do no harm” philosophy, Dr. Balka does not hesitate to seek help or advice when needed. She strives to listen to her patients’ concerns, be honest with her opinions and provide flexibility in order to meet patients’ needs.

Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Balka has also lived in Philadelphia, Jacksonville and Hawaii, thanks to orders from the U.S. Navy. She and her husband, a retired Navy veteran, have two daughters and especially enjoy the family-friendly nature of Hampton Roads. Dr. Balka enjoys family time, playing with her dog and running.
