Primary Care vs Urgent Care vs Emergency Care
Primary Care
Purpose: Comprehensive, long-term health management, preventative care and chronic condition management
Conditions Treated: Routine check-ups, vaccinations, chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, etc.), ongoing medical needs
Hours: Normal business hours, some locations offer Saturday appointments
Cost: Generally lower overall cost
Urgent Care
Purpose: Immediate attention for non-life threatening conditions requiring prompt treatment
Conditions Treated: Minor injuries (cuts, sprains, etc.), acute illnesses (flu, colds), suspected UTI infections and other non-life threatening infections, etc.
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 9am-9pm
Cost: Mid-range cost, typically less than emergency rooms
Emergency Care
Purpose: Critical and life-saving interventions for severe life-threatening conditions
Conditions Treated: Chest pain, severe head injuries, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, heart attack or stroke symptoms
