Diabetes Education Classes at Riverside

Join us for diabetes education classes where you can meet others facing the same challenges as you. Our program has been awarded recognition by the American Diabetes Association. The instructors are trained in diabetes education.

Some classes require a doctor's referral or prescription and have fees that may be covered by your health insurance. Call us and we will check with your insurance provider.

Prediabetes

This group class is intended to help people with prediabetes improve their health, reduce their hemoglobin A1c and avoid developing diabetes.

Diabetes Self-Management Education

This 4-hour class gives an overview of diabetes, managing blood sugar, planning meals and more. Perfect for someone with a new diagnosis or trying to better manage their diabetes.

Weight Management

This class can help you learn initial tools to lose weight including nutritional concepts, calorie tracking and healthy cooking techniques.

One-on-One Nutrition Consults

Meet one-on-one with a Certified Diabetes Education Specialist to discuss nutrition, address your concerns or questions and create meal plans that work for you.

One-on-One Consultation with Diabetes Educator

Meet one-on-one with a Certified Diabetes Education Specialist to review problems, troubleshoot glucose monitoring, set up CGMs or answer any questions.

Glucose Monitoring and Continuous Glucose Monitoring Set Up and Training

Meet with our staff to learn how to test your blood glucose level or set up your Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) device.

Insulin Injection Education (Getting Started)

Starting insulin? Meet with our staff to learn to calculate doses and administer the injections.

Considering an Insulin Pump? (Pre-Pump Class)

Let us help you navigate the choices. This class reviews the different devices available and helps you find the right match for your lifestyle, habits and comfort level.

Insulin Pump Initial Training (Getting Set Up)

Let us help you set up your new insulin pump. Learn how to insert it, program the pump and track your readings, as well as how to trouble shoot any problems.

Insulin Pump Adjustments (Trouble Shooting or Reprogramming)

Need help adjusting or troubleshooting your insulin pump? Let us help you with any needed adjustment or work through any problems.

Professional Continuous Glucose Monitoring CGM (3-10 day wear)

Our diabetes staff installs a temporary CGM device that you will wear for 3-10 days. After the set time, they will remove the device and review the results with you as well as send a full repot to your physician for any treatment adjustments.

This is a 12 month class focused on reducing weight, building good habits and preventing diabetes.
