About Tonia Contelmo, DO

Dr. Contelmo specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, managing abnormal uterine bleeding and contraceptive counseling and management. After earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Contelmo completed her residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center and earned awards for minimally invasive and gynecologic oncology surgery.

While Dr. Contelmo appreciates the balance between performing surgery and building relationships with patients that her specialty offers, she chose women’s health to help build a safe health care space for women and empower them to take ownership of their reproductive and overall health. Dr. Contelmo believes that through the osteopathic approach and treating the whole patient, she can practice collaborative care, educate her patients and offer shared decision making throughout their lifetime.

I have not had a bad experience at this doctor's office. I'm still a fairly new patient there (2 years) and I only go in for my annual exams. Which is fantastic because I was forced to leave my previous gyno due to my insurance changing.

I have not stopped talking about the entire office since my visit, but especially Dr. Contelmo. She is clearly brilliant, but she doesn't talk down to you or assume you need baser language than you do; nor does she speak to you and assume you know everything. I'm an L&D nurse, and I learned so much from her in this one appointment! I truly cannot get over how cared about I felt during my entire visit. I know the office is incredibly busy, but I never felt rushed or like she didn't have all the time in the world for me.

The lady that did my ultrasound on [...] was so great. She took some extra time with me and I really can't tell you how special that visit was as for me. The nurse noticed a hesitation in my intake answers and called me out on it. That is someone who is listening and wants to get the true answer. I appreciated that. She was not just checking a box. The dr I saw after didn't rush me even with questions that were kinda trivial. She took her time to look me in the eyes and really connected with me. All three ladies I saw that day did that and I am very grateful I for the care I received. Thanks.

Dr. Contelmo is without a doubt the best medical care provider I have ever had the pleasure of receiving care from. Her nonjudgmental, empathetic, highly knowledgeable approach makes me feel so at ease as the patient. Her warmth and undivided attention to me during each appointment exemplifies her passion and dedication to giving each patient the exact care that they need. She treats me with the utmost respect and kindness, which is extremely rare to find in a provider. I am so grateful to have found the most outstanding OBGYN.
