Melanie’s personal medical philosophy is summed up by a Theodore Roosevelt quote: “No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.” She believes that empathy and a non-judgmental attitude can go a long way in patient care. Melanie enjoys working with all stages of life and has a particular passion for educating patients and interpreting medical jargon into understandable terms.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Melanie grew up around the world in an Air Force family. Since 1994, she has lived in Hampton, where she loves being close to the beach and the mountains. Melanie is a Steelers fan who enjoys traveling, running 5k and half-marathon races, watching Little League baseball and spending time with her family. Melanie and her husband, Anthony, have four children.

NP Ames, listen attentively to my concerns, she does not try to throw some drugs onto me a pushed me out the door, she engaged with me and try to understand my concerns. Inorder to better help me to make the best decision about my health issues and the best rout to move forward. When your provider shows genuine concern by listening to you the patient and help to explore all avenues. That provides never goes lacking. And I do know that she had to do it her job in a timely manner. She is smooth at that too.

The Nurse Practitioner obviously had reviewed my records thoroughly and was able to recount my medical history and current status. She was pleasant, professional, and had wonderful "bed-side manner." She certainly has to be an asset to any medical team that she supports.
