About Kaushal Kantibhai Patel, MD

Dr. Patel is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pulmonary and critical care physician with special interest in lung nodules and interstitial lung disease (a group of disorders that cause progressive scarring of lung tissue). He also performs some minimally invasive diagnostic procedures including endobronchial ultrasound and electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy.   

After attending medical school in India, Dr. Patel completed an internal medicine residency at Alleghany General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He then pursued a pulmonary and critical care fellowship, also at Alleghany General.  Following his training in Pittsburgh, he moved to Tennessee where he worked as a pulmonary and critical care physician at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Dr. Patel is certified in internal, pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Dr. Patel has always been fascinated by the pulmonary physiology, and he enjoys the diagnostic challenges and procedural complexity required.  Working in both pulmonology and critical care medicine allows him to work in two very different environments.  In the outpatient pulmonology clinic setting he enjoys developing long term relationships with his patients and working with them throughout their journey. Dr. Patel also enjoys working in the fast paced, quick-thinking environment of the ICU.  Helping patients understand their diagnosis is important to Dr. Patel as he sees the impact on patient outcomes when they have a better understanding of their health.

Married with two children, Dr. Patel enjoys playing tennis, gardening and exploring the outdoors with his family. Originally from Gujarat, India, Dr. Patel is fluent in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
