Transitional Residency Program

 

Riverside Regional Medical Center Transitional Year Residency Program prepares residents for entry into categorical residencies with a broad understanding of multiple disciplines. Our graduates have gone on to careers in dermatology, ophthalmology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, radiology and radiation oncology.

OUR CURRICULUM DOES NOT SATISFY THE ACGME PRELIMINARY REQUIREMENTS FOR NEUROLOGY CATEGORICAL PROGRAMS.

CRITERIA FOR TRANSITIONAL YEAR MATCH

You must submit your application through ERAS and participate in THE MATCH. We do not accept email applications or resume/CV.

Applications are accepted through Jan. 1.

There is no cut-off date for medical school graduation, but we do require active involvement in medicine within the past two years (i.e. clinical rotations, military, research). You must have completed two one-month U.S. clinical rotations.
 
An ECFMG certificate is not needed to apply or be interviewed. However, a current ECFMG certificate must be supplied before rank list submission.
  

You must have a social security number in order to receive your Virginia intern / resident medical license to start residency.

ALL in-person interviews and “Matched” applicants, MUST have proof of a COVID vaccination.

Observerships or externships are not offered at Riverside.
