Tappahannock, Va. – The administration and medical leadership at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital welcome Robert S. Culley, IV, D.O.
Mechanicsville native, Dr. Robert Culley, can remember one of his first summer jobs mowing the lawn of Riverside Tappahannock Hospital. He recently returned to work at the hospital. Only this time he is on the medical staff, treating patients in the Emergency Department.
“We’re excited to have Dr. Culley join our team in the Emergency Department,” said Richard Dunn, M.D., a Family Medicine physician with Riverside Warsaw Medical Arts and Service Line Chief at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital. “He is already a wonderful addition to the clinical team and our local community.”
A graduate of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Culley graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015 and recently completed his residency at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. Working as an Emergency Medicine Technician for Bon Secours, Culley fell in love with emergency medicine and knew he wanted to practice in a small community. He and his wife, a pediatric nurse and Richmond-area native, knew they wanted to be close to family.
“I knew I wanted to live and work in a smaller community where the care would be extremely personal,” Culley said. “I find it easy to relate to my patients, and I know that they appreciate the care I’m providing.”
Culley enjoys seeing his patients around the community. He and his wife have settled in Tappahannock and they spend much of their spare time getting to know the area.
“When you provide emergency care, you have an opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life,” Culley said. “I’ve already run across some of my patients in Walmart or around town and its always great to see them.”
In addition to spending more time with family, Culley is enjoying living close to the water and all the outdoor activities that are available in the northern neck.
Culley also believes that his own long-standing philosophy of care is a great fit with the Riverside Care Difference, which promises to deliver care and services, as a team, by putting patients and customers at the heart of everything.
“Everything has fallen into place,” Culley said.
