Newport News, Va. – Riverside Health System has received the Supply Chain Excellence Award from Premier Inc., a leading health care improvement company, for its high-value purchasing practices.
“Riverside is being recognized not only for their advanced purchasing abilities but also for their continuous work in collaborating to share best practices and support for the alliance,” said David A. Hargraves, Senior Vice President, Supply Chain, Premier. “We celebrate their purchasing practices as they work to provide high-quality care at the best cost.”
One of 13 hospitals and health systems to be recognized this year, Riverside Health System accepted the award at Premier’s 2019 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in Nashville, Tennessee on June 19.
“Riverside Health System works incredibly hard to provide the very highest quality of care possible for our patients and their families in the most efficient and cost effective way possible,” said Bob Hornsby, system director, supply chain management, Riverside Health System. “Earning this Supply Chain Excellence Award from Premier is a testament to the team’s efforts and underscores the great progress we’ve made on a variety of best-practice initiatives across the system.”
To be eligible, each organization had to submit four quarters of calendar 2018 data through PremierConnect®’s comparative database of operational and supply chain cost information for acute care hospitals. Winners were identified using four industry standard case-mix-index-adjusted supply expense ratios and a peer grouping methodology to ensure that organizations of diverse sizes and complexity were considered equally.
With 40 indicators measuring and trending performance in cost and operations, PremierConnect enables hospitals to compare supply expense performance to that of similar facilities and easily identify improvement opportunities.
