Newport News, VA – Dec. 7 Riverside Health System is pleased to announce Dr. Mike Dacey will be joining Riverside on January 22, 2018 as Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Operations Officer.  Dr. Dacey comes to Riverside from Kent Hospital where he most recently served as President and Chief Operating Officer and has served the Care New England Health System (CNE) for the past 17 years.

Over the past three years, Dr. Dacey has overseen Kent Hospital, a community teaching hospital with 2,200 employees and a medical staff of over 700 physicians.  He was also appointed President of Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, a Brown University School of Medicine teaching hospital during 2015.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Dacey served as the Chief Clinical Integration Officer and oversaw the Care New England Physician Organization and CNE's has been involved in a number of other areas with Care New England including work with their Medical group, value-based care and quality and safety.

Dr. Dacey earned his medical degree at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, finished his Internal Medicine Residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and earned a Master of Science in Health Care Management from Harvard School of Public Health.

Dr. Dacey is highly respected for his clinical work as a hospitalist and intensivist as well as for bringing expertise and a patient-focused approach to his leadership roles. 

Dr. Barry Gross who has served as Riverside’s Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President for 16 years will be stepping down from this role in 2018.  He will be actively engaged with other strategic initiatives during the transition.  Dr. Gross will also continue to care for his gynecology patients in his clinical practice as he has for the past 42 years.

Dr. Gross has been instrumental in the building of the Riverside Medical Group and advancing the Riverside Health System, especially in the areas of quality and safety.
