On September 12, 2012, the site plan and elevations for the proposed new and relocated Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital were unveiled at the Accomack County Planning Commission meeting. These architectural concepts were developed as part of the request for a conditional use permit and provide a preview of a propose facility that is the only rural hospital scheduled for construction in Virginia over the next two years. While the proposed new hospital will hopefully be reality in the very near future, the services it provides to the community, backed by its physician, staff and Board of Directors, will continue for many decades to come.

The Proposed Hospital

• 160,000 Square Feet (approximately)
• 78 Inpatient Beds
• Inpatient and Same Day Surgery
• 3 Operating Rooms
• 24-Hour Emergency Department
• Diagnostic Center with Fixed MRI
• Outpatient Services
• 40,000 Square Foot Medical Office Building (approximately) housing Oncology Services and Physician Offices

Exterior Materials
The materials being considered for the proposed Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital are similar in nature to those used on previous Riverside projects and are sensitive to the architectural context of Virginia's Eastern Shore. Red brick or red cement board are being considered for the primary cladding of the new hospital, similar to other commercial and educational buildings in the area and in keeping with the architectural character of the Shore.

Proposed Location
The proposed location for the new hospital is immediately behind the Four Corners Plaza in Accomack County.
