Nutrition
Nutritional counseling by our registered dietitian is a guiding hand in making good dietary choices so you lose weight, maintain weight lose, better manage a medical condition and/or develop lifelong healthy eating habits. This includes education on proper portion control, what not to eat, what to eat, how often to eat, and appropriate daily calorie allocations.
The key to successful weight loss is developing healthy exercise habits as well as eating habits. Our exercise physiologist will work with you to develop an exercise program based on your weight loss goals, physical health and lifestyle. Together you will develop realistic and attainable goals. Exercise programs may consist of weight training, low-impact exercise, Yoga, sports and much more. Finding the right exercise or combination of exercises is the key to success in creating healthy exercise habits.
Post-operative patients are giving a very specific exercise schedule based on their recovery progress. Our dietitian also works closely with post-operative patients to ensure daily food intake is in line with a healthy and speedy recovery from surgery.
Losing weight is often an emotional as well as physical challenge. Whether you choose medical weight loss or surgical weight loss, behavioral intervention is critical to your success.
Human behavior is learned and can therefore be changed through various forms of conditioning. The main purpose of behavioral therapy is to identify and change, or modify, behaviors standing in the way of loosing and maintaining weight loss.
Weight maintenance requires a distinctly different mindset than weight loss. Making a commitment to manage your weight for the rest of your life is an important part of your success. Our team will help you develop permanent lifestyle changes by turning learned behaviors into established habits.
We don’t require you join a particular gym or health club. However we are able to offer a discount at the Riverside Wellness and Fitness Center both here on the Peninsula and in Gloucester. For more information, ask our exercise physiologist.
