Jason A. Smith, D.O.
Dr. Smith is a fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician. He specializes in all aspects of sports medicine and nonsurgical orthopedic care. Dr. Smith has special training in sport concussion management as well as an interest in overuse injuries in young athletes. He also uses non-surgical approaches to osteoarthritis and ultrasound guided joint and tendon injections.
Dr. Smith serves as the Head Team Physician of Christopher Newport University and leads Riverside Health System Sports Medicine Programs.

Dr. Smith completed his undergraduate studies in Sports and Exercise Science at Gannon University in Erie, PA. He obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and his Family Medicine residency and Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. In addition to being fellowship trained in primary care sports medicine, he has board certifications in osteopathic family medicine and primary care sports medicine.
During his undergraduate studies, Dr. Smith was a three-sport, scholarship athlete competing in cross-country, swimming and water polo. He had the privilege to serve as the primary coverage for multiple Cleveland area high schools, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, Hiram College and Notre Dame College. He also worked with the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland State University, John Carroll University and Baldwin Wallace College, as well as other community events.
