Many of the newest treatments for coronary heart disease are performed through minimally invasive techniques using catheters, balloons and stents in one of Riverside’s three cardiac cath labs. Riverside cardiologists operate one of the area's busiest cardiac cath labs providing a wide range of the newest treatments. As technology in stent and drug therapy continues to evolve, the Riverside Cath Labs will continue to be the area's leader in providing these services.
Riverside is the region's premier provider of emergency treatment of heart attacks. In conjunction with the cardiology staff, the emergency team has developed a unique program for the emergency care and treatment of chest pain and heart attack.
The STEMI Alert program, offered in conjunction with area fire and rescue departments, allows the Riverside team to rapidly mobilize to provide emergency angioplasty and stent treatment to treat heart attacks. This unique program has reduced the treatment times in these emergencies and improved clinical outcomes.
Riverside cardiologists have access to the latest technologies and equipment for treatment of coronary artery disease including balloon angioplasty and drug eluting stents to open and stabilize coronary artery blockages as well as highly powerful clot-busting procedures using the Angiojet to remove clots before a balloon or stent procedure.
In addition to digital x-ray imaging, cardiologists may select intra-vascular ultrasound to view inside the arteries to select and guide the best treatment.
