Riverside provides the Peninsula’s most comprehensive cardiac program incorporating the area's only open-heart surgery program along with the only interventional cardiology (cath lab) program that meets the ACC/AHA guidelines for emergency heart attack care. Riverside has a long history of providing the Peninsula with specialty based cardiac care. From the first cath lab and cardiac ICU in the area to the communities only open-heart surgery program, Riverside is committed to being one of Virginia’s leading cardiac care providers.

The Riverside Cardiac program is designed around the patient’s access to testing and treatment. These services are provided to diagnose and treat the full range of cardiac issues. Riverside also provides access to some of the latest clinical research protocols to test new life-saving treatments and advances in care. To complete the cardiac recovery cycle after a cardiac event, the cardiac rehabilitation program provides three customized levels of care to assist not only in recovery but also prevention of future cardiac events.

All of these services are located here in Newport News and are coordinated with the patient’s personal physician.
