10 Ways to recognize that you may have a hearing loss
The following questions from the National Institutes of Health can help you determine if you need to have your hearing evaluated by a medical professional:
 
  1. ___ Do you have a problem hearing over the telephone?
  2.  
  3. ___ Do you have trouble following conversation when people talk at the same time?
  4.  
  5. ___ Do people complain that you turn the TV volume up too high?
  6.  
  7. ___ Do you have to strain to understand conversation?
  8.  
  9. ___ Do you have trouble hearing in a noisy background?
  10.  
  11. ___ Do you find yourself asking people to repeat themselves?
  12.  
  13. ___ Do many people you talk to seem to mumble (or not speak clearly)?
  14.  
  15. ___ Do you misunderstand what others are saying and respond inappropriately?
  16.  
  17. ___ Do you have trouble understanding the speech of women and children?
  18.  
  19. ___ Do people get annoyed because you misunderstand what they say?
 
If you answered "yes" to three or more of these questions, you may want to see an an ENT or an audiologist for a hearing evaluation.
