Whether or not your medical team recommends biological therapy will depend on the type of cancer you have, how far the cancer has spread, and the treatments you have tried already. In some cases, you may receive biological treatment along with treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation.
Depending on the type of biological treatment, you may be given pills or shots that you can take at home. Others are given through an IV administered at a clinic or Riverside hospital.
The frequency of biological treatments also varies. Some may be given once a day or a couple of times a day. Others are given less often--sometimes once a week, or perhaps just once every month or two.
