I've been blessed with good health all of my life. When I had a hernia and needed to have surgery, the whole process was new to me. My primary care physician, Dr. David Bagnall, referred me to Dr. Reginald Mason, a surgeon at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital. Dr. Mason, along with all the medical and administrative staff at the hospital, found the perfect balance of professionalism and personal attention. From my pre-op appointments, to checking in the day of the procedure, to post-op care, the team at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital made me feel comfortable and at ease ... not an easy thing to do for someone unfamiliar with being in a hospital. My friend, Susan, joked that Dr. Mason and I spent more time talking about our love of Mustang sports cars than my actual procedure. Dr. Mason was friendly, but he was also knowledgeable and took the time to explain the entire process, making sure I understood exactly what would be happening. He went a step further and discussed all the details of my recovery with Susan after the surgery. Dr. Mason and the whole team at Riverside gave me peace of mind and reassurance. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. My recovery has been completely smooth, and at the first sign of warm weather, I'll be back out on the Chesapeake Bay with my fishing rod in hand.
