Our Patients: The Real Story

When you make a commitment to quality, good things happen every day. At Riverside, we’re proud of the following stories of quality as told by our neighbors and friends.

Cornelia Doggins, told by her daughter-in-law, Linda
"By the time her in-home therapy was complete, she was getting up the stairs faster than ever!"

Even at 101 years old, my mother-in-law was used to an independent lifestyle. When problems with her legs threatened to take that away from her, we sought care from Dr. Ryan Williams at Riverside Tappahannock Family Practice. During treatment, she also experienced a trip to the Riverside Tappahannock Hospital Emergency Room, which turned into a five day hospital stay. Dr. Michael Francis, the surgeon who performed one of Cornelia's procedures, and Dorothy Gladding, one of the nurses at the hospital, provided great care and support.

Once Cornelia was discharged, she transferred to the inpatient rehabilitation program at The Orchard, where she received physical therapy to help improve her strength and flexibility. When she returned home, Cornelia benefitted from home adjustments made by Jill from Riverside Home Care. Jill was extremely helpful in making Cornelia's home safe so that she could continue to live there. By the time her in-home therapy was complete, she was getting up her stairs faster than ever! Jill even saw Cornelia in the Assisted Living community in which she now resides. Everyone that we encountered was friendly and encouraging, but Cornelia especially loves Dr. Williams. He is patient and kind, and Cornelia lights up as soon as he comes into the room. The Riverside team has done an exceptional job maximizing the active, independent lifestyle Cornelia loves so much.
