The Junior Volunteer program is an 8 week program open to students who are between the ages of 15 (by June 15) and 17 and meet the minimum requirements of the application process. The Junior Volunteer Program application process is a competitive one. Applications are accepted from March 1 through May 13. Students must be in good academic standing, have parental permission and attend mandatory orientation. Junior Volunteering develops such skills as:

- Seeking information/advice when it is needed
- Making decisions
- Goal-setting, planning and time management
- Personal responsibility and accountability
- Dealing with people of power and authority

Riverside’s Junior Volunteer Program provides students with an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience related to healthcare careers and business office environments. Students can choose from a variety of assignments on Nursing Units, in Business Offices, Transportation, Mailroom and Distribution, Patient Discharge Services, Greeting, Information and Way-finding, and many other opportunities throughout the medical center.
