Stroke - Daily Schedule Example

The following is an example of a typical weekday in the program. However, each patient has an individual treatment plan and schedule.

7:00 am

Patient dressing, grooming, hygiene begins – with the assistance of occupational therapy and rehabilitation nursing.

8:00 am

Breakfast. A dietary plan will be specifically designed by a registered dietician through a nutritional assessment. If the patient has a swallowing disorder a speech pathologist, occupational therapist and rehabilitation nurse will work together with the patient in a swallowing/feeding program. (All meals have a specific dietary plan.).

9:00 am

Stroke rehabilitation sessions consisting of varying levels of physical, occupational, speech, cognitive and recreational therapy.

Noon

Lunch

1:00 pm

Therapy sessions resume. The patient may also be involved in psychological or pastoral care services.

5:00 pm

Dinner

6:00 pm

Leisure time. Optional therapeutic recreation activities.

8:30 pm

Visiting hours end and patients are assisted by rehabilitation nurses with hygiene and grooming tasks. 


Note: We have more experience in stroke rehabilitation than any other facility in eastern Virginia.
