Riverside Rehabilitation Institute - Stroke - Admission and Referral Process

The admission criteria is designed to allow for evaluation opportunities. Suggested guidelines:

History of a new cerebral vascular accident (stroke).
Patient is medically stable.
Requires rehabilitation nursing and therapy services.
Patient is able to build tolerance to an average of three hours of therapy per day or 15/week.
Patient is willing to participate and has potential to benefit.

Referrals may be made by physicians, social workers, or family members. After a referral is made, an assessment representative will provide an on-site evaluation of the patient. This initial assessment will be reviewed by a RRI physician to determine the patient’s rehabilitation potential. A Riverside Rehabilitation Institute physician may elect to conduct a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Consult and either authorize admission or make a recommendation for alternative services.
