Javier Amadeo, M.D. did his undergraduate work at Yale University, earning a bachelor of science degree, with honors, in 1990. He completed his medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico, earning his medical doctorate in 1994, and then completed his surgical internship and neurosurgical training at the University of Puerto Rico, from 1994 to 2000. He is board-certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Amadeo is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, North American Spine Society, American Medical Association, Medical Society of Virginia, and the Newport News Medical Society. He is also a member of the Puerto Rico College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has special interest in minimally invasive spine surgery, brain tumors, and Gamma Knife.
Dr. Matthew Chang started at Hampton Roads Neurosurgery and Spine Specialists in July of 2005. He grew up in Virginia Beach and did his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia. He received his MD from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio where he finished as part of the AOA medical honor society. He then did his internship and residency training at the University of Colorado. Dr. Chang has special interest in complex spinal surgery, neuro-oncology (surgical treatment of tumors of the brain, spine and spinal cord), gamma knife radiosurgery, and functional neurosurgery (He is initiating the deep brain stimulator program at Riverside Regional Medical Center.)
Wallace Garner, M.D. earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia where he also completed residency training in Neurosurgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Garner has restricted his practice to office hours only. He does a high volume of spine injections including epidural steroid injections.
Ron Gharbo, D.O. earned his medical degree at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. He completed residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Gharbo is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Gharbo holds a particular interest in electrodiagnostic testing.
James Lesnick, M.D. earned his medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. He completed residency training in Neurosurgery at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lesnick also completed a fellowship in Cerebrovascular Research at Pennsylvania Hospital. He is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Lesnick holds a particular practice interest in Gamma Knife Radiosurgery, brain tumors, and endoscopic surgery for pituitary tumors.
William H. McAllister IV, M.D. was born in Norfolk and earned his undergraduate and Medical Degrees from the University of North Carolina. He completed residency training in Neurosurgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He also received additional training in the surgery of Adult Spinal Deformities at Rush St. Lukes Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago as well as Neurosurgery at Loyola University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital. Dr. McAllister is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He holds a particular interest in complex spinal surgery. Trigeminal Neuralgia, surgery of brain and spinal tumors and peripheral nerve disorders.
