Our Staff

We consider our professional team "all committed to high quality, personalized care" to be our greatest asset. We hope you agree. Our Nurse Practitioners supervise the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic and conduct and supervise a variety of diagnostic tests and patient assessments. Our Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses, all certified and specially trained to care for patients with heart problems, work closely with our physicians in all aspects of your care. Our Registered Nurses also act as patient liaisons, offering personalized patient education for you and your loved ones. And our Administrative and Patient Accounts Department staff are very knowledgeable about such matters as scheduling, payment procedures, fees, and medical insurance concerns and questions.

Albert A. Burton, MD, FACC
Dr. Burton received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center. Subsequently, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, CO, and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Burton is Board Certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. He has been practicing cardiology since 1996. Dr. Burton's current practice includes non-invasive and invasive cardiology.


Eric J. Chou, MD, FACC
Dr. Chou received his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and his medical degree from Pennsylvania State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. Subsequently, he completed his internship and residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, WI. Additionally, he completed his fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the Medical College of Virginia and his fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. He is Board Certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, with additional certification in nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Chou has been practicing cardiology since 2005. Dr. Chou's current practice includes non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology.


Edward Chu, MD, FACC
Dr. Chu received his undergraduate degree and his medical degree from Brown University in Providence, RI. Subsequently, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, CA, and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, CA, and the University of California in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Chu is Board Certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, with additional certification in interventional cardiology and echocardiography. He has been practicing cardiology since 1993. Dr. Chu's current practice includes non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology.

Richard Edwards, MD, FACC
Dr. Edwards completed his cardiology fellowship at Wake Forest - Bowman Gray School of Medicine in 1990, with special training in interventional cardiology. He received his undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University in 1981, and his Medical Degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1984, and completed his internal medicine residency at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in 1987. He has been practicing cardiology since 1990. Dr. Edwards' current practice includes general non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology. He is Board Certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and interventional cardiology.

William Gillen, MD, FACC
Dr. Gillen received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Subsequently, he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, PA.

Dr. Gillen is Board Certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. He has been practicing cardiology since 1994. Dr. Gillen's current practice includes non-invasive and invasive cardiology.


William Harris, MD, FACC
Dr. Harris received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Subsequently, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Barnes Hospital at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Additionally, Dr. Harris completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease as well as a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is Board Certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and interventional cardiology. Dr. Harris has been practicing cardiology since 1995. Dr. Harris' current practice includes non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology.


Daniel Langdon, MD, FACC
Dr. Langdon received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Subsequently, he completed his internship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, and at the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at North Carolina Memorial Hospital at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He later completed an invasive cardiology fellowship at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. He is Board Certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases with additional certification in interventional cardiology. Dr. Langdon has been practicing cardiology since 1980. Dr. Langdon's current practice includes non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology.


Anthony P. Lombardo, MD
Dr. Lombardo earned his undergraduate degree as an Echols Scholar from the University of Virginia and his medical degree from State University of New York at Brooklyn. He then completed an internal medicine internship and residency and a cardiology fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He continued his medical training at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he completed an interventional cardiology fellowship.

Dr. Lombardo practices consultative, diagnostic, invasive and interventional cardiology, with a special focus on peripheral vascular angiography and interventions as well as carotid angiography and interventions. He also has experience in PFO and ASD closure devices.


Paul Micale, MD, FACC
Dr. Micale received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. Subsequently, he completed his internship and residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas, TX, and his fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He is Board Certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, with additional certification in interventional cardiology. Dr. Micale has been practicing cardiology since 1986. Dr. Micale's current practice includes non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology.


Allan Murphy, MBBS, FACC
Dr. Murphy completed his undergraduate degree and his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees at the University of Queensland Medical School in Australia, and his medical training from the University of Toronto Medical School in Toronto, Canada. Subsequently, he completed his internship at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Canada and his residency and fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Toronto Western Hospital. He is Board Certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, with additional certification in pacing and electrophysiology from the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology. He also holds a license in nuclear cardiology. Dr. Murphy has been practicing cardiology since 1979. His current practice includes non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology as well as electrophysiology services.


Charles Vaughan, MD, FACC
Dr. Vaughan completed his undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, and his medical degree at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. Subsequently, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, VA, completing a year as chief resident. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the Medical College of Georgia. He is Board Certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases and is a licensed nuclear cardiologist. Dr. Vaughan has been practicing cardiology since 1993. Dr. Vaughan's current practice includes non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology.


Rafic Zaitoun, MD, FACC
Dr. Zaitoun completed his undergraduate degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Subsequently, he completed his medical degree, internship, residency, and fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the Medical College of Virginia. He completed an interventional cardiovascular fellowship at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. He is Board Certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. He has been practicing cardiology since 1990. Dr. Zaitoun's current practice includes non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology, including peripheral interventions.

Kim Liebold, ANP
Kim Liebold, ANP, received her Diploma as a Registered Nurse from Riverside School of Professional Nursing in 1987, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Christopher Newport in 1989, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in 1996.

After working as a cardiac nurse at Riverside, she became the Patient Care & Education Coordinator at Cardiovascular Center of Hampton Roads in 1989, and has been an Adult Nurse Practitioner in the practice, focusing on the care of cardiac patients, since 1997. She specializes in congestive heart failure management and risk factor reduction with cardiac health promotion, including hypertension, lipid management, and smoking cessation. In conjunction with our cardiologists, Kim oversees our stress testing department at our Port Warwick office. She is Board Certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.


Gail Miner, ANP
Gail Miner, ANP, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Wilkes College in 1981, and her Master of Science in Nursing from George Mason University in 1998.

After working as a registered nurse for 17 years, she spent the last seven in the fields of internal medicine, cardiology, and cardiac surgery as a Nurse Practitioner. She joined the staff of Cardiovascular Center of Hampton Roads in 2005, and has been practicing as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She focuses on the care of cardiac patients, specializing in congestive heart failure management and risk factor reduction with cardiac health promotion, including hypertention, lipid management, smoking cessation, and cardiovascular stress testing. She is Board Certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
